Muddy Kids

You have got to love spring!! With the flood the ground around the yard and fields was very muddy. Of course children cannot resist...

Of course I freaked out on them a little but after that, I had to snap a picture.

My Little Man

Here is a picture of Marshall sometime back in April so he was about seven months old here.

Red River Flower Flood

In April Mia entered an art show where kids had to make something out of reused things. Mia used some of my old seed catalogs to make a collage picture. It looked great and she ended up getting 2nd place! She got a gift certificate for the Dairy Queen and was very excited about that.

Grandma and Marshall

In mid-March my mom and dad came to visit for the weekend. Of course my mom didn't let Marshall go all weekend!

Blizzard #57...

This was are second to last (so far, who knows if we are really done) blizzard of this year. We were stranded for two days and the interstates were shut down.

Kent and snow blowing the driveway

Check out all the snow!

Mia, ready to go outside and brave the elements.

Master Bathroom

In March Kent worked on the vanity for the Master bathroom. For over a year now we have had just a counter top and sink sitting on a wooden frame, so it was nice to finally see some sort of cabinet in our bathroom
Kent re hooking up the plumbing
When it is done the middle will be drawers and the openings under the sink will be cupboard doors.

Marshall smiling for mommy!
In March Mia got her hair cut short. She had been wanting to do that for a long time and I finally broke down and let her have her way. It really looks cute!

I have to say that shorter hair is much easier to take care of.

Yummy!

At four months Marshall's doctor said to start giving Marshall rice cereal. This is his first taste of solid food. He really liked it!
MMMMMMM!

"GIVE IT TO ME!"

Can You Say "Ouch"?

In January we found this humdinger of an egg. The egg is next to a regular-sized egg. All I can say is that must have hurt coming out. When we cracked it open it was a double yoker. (that is also Milo in the picture :) )

Four Months

This picture was taken of Marshall in mid January. He weighed 16lbs, 5oz and was 25 1/2 inches long and adorable of course! :)

Christmas 2008

For Christmas we went to my parents place. We had our typical Christmas. We were up early on Christmas day to open presents and then mom made a HUGE dinner and the grandmas, Kayla, Will, us, Mike, Tonya and the kids, mom and dad, and uncle Russell pigged out until we couldn't move and then we grazed all day afterwards.

My dad and all of his cats. Sadly, this is less than half of them. They talk about the "Crazy Cat Lady"...

Santa Marshall

Kent and Me with our New Stormy Kromers. Ya, we are hicks, what can I say?

Mia was so happy to get her horse trailer that she wanted so bad!

Isabelle and her new sewing machine and first sewing project. She wants to sew like her mom.

Marshall's Baptism

After THREE attempts to baptize Marshall, I did not let the circumstances of December 21st keep me from having him baptized. Because of the snow storm, only Will, One of Marshall's Godfathers was able to make it for the weekend, Steve and Laureen were snowed in. Also, Kent's dad got sick that weekend so his parents didn't make it. THEN that morning Kent woke up sick and could not make it. So, other than reschedule AGAIN, we went on with it.

My Little Kitchen Helper

I made a cake for Marshall's baptism and Mia helped me by little the scrapers. She was really good at it!

Eggs!

Also in early December, our hens starting laying eggs! At first it was 2 or 3, now we are getting a little over a dozen a day. We have let our co-workers know that we are selling eggs for $1.50/doz and so far, people at my work seem to not be too excited about it (darn city slickers! :) ) but Kent is like a rock star at his work place and they are selling like hot cakes over there! He already has regular clientele that almost leaves ME scrambling (scrambling - get it? HA! ) to keep eggs at home. The eggs are so yummy! Mia was pretty excited that her chickens started laying eggs, but she was a little "freaked out" about eating them.

Snow Storm #1

In early December we got our first snow storm. At the height of the storm, we couldn't see the barn or chicken coop from the back door. Once it was done snowing and blowing this is what we were left with:
We sure thought with was a lot of snow then, but now, this is nothing!

Guest Bedroom

Kent is currently working on the guest bedroom in the basement.
Mia drew a picture and Kent put up on the insulation. She thought it was pretty neat that her picture will be there forever.

Christmas Star

The saturday after Thanksgiving Kent put a star up on our barn for the Christmas season. It looks so neat from the road.

Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving, we spent it quietly at home. Since I had gone back to work the Monday before, I thought a long weekend far from home would be even more draining. So we had the traditional dinner for just Kent, Mia, and Me.
Do not forget wine in the freezer...it explodes.
Mia eating her turkey

Can you believe that all this food if for two adults and one kid!? By the end of the weekend we had it all pretty much eaten too!
